 SUBHASHITHANI:644

यत्र नार्यस्तु पूज्यन्ते रमन्ते तत्र देवताः।
यत्रैतास्तु न पूज्यन्ते सर्वास्तत्राफला क्रिया:॥
 Yatra naryastu pujyante ramante tatra Devata, yatraitaastu na pujyante sarvaastatrafalaahkriyaah" is an often-quoted Manu's saying. 

Manusmriti (3.56)
 Wherever women are given their due respect, even the deities like to reside there and where they are not respected, all actions remain unfruitful.

 कोकिलानां स्वरो रूपं नार्या रूपं पतिव्रतम् ।
 विद्या रूपं कुरूपाणां क्षमा रूपं तपस्विनाम् ॥
Cuckoos' beauty is their voice. Women’s attraction point is in being husband-devoted. Elegance of ugly men is learning (having knowledge) and sages’ grace is forgiveness.

अलङ्कारो हि नारीणां क्षमा तु पुरुषस्य वा।
दुष्करं तच्च यत् क्षान्तं त्रिदशेषु विशेषत:।।1.33.7।।
यादृशी व: क्षमा पुत्र्यस्सर्वासामविशेषत:।
Whether for women or men forgiveness is an ornament. It is difficult even for gods. For you, daughters, to show it without any difference of opinion is especially hard.  -Janaka to his daughters

ताराणां भूशणं चन्द्रॉ नारीणां भूशणं पति: |
प्रुथिव्या भूशणं राजा विद्या सर्वस्य भूशणं ||
Taaraa naam bhushanam chandro naareenaam bhushanam patihi |
pruthivyaa bhushanam raajaa vidyaa sarvasya bhushanam ||
Stars are moon's ornament. Husband is the ornament for a woman
King is the ornament for earth. Knowledge is the ornament for everyone

अलङ्कारो हि नारीणां क्षमा तु पुरुषस्य वा।
दुष्करं तच्च यत् क्षान्तं त्रिदशेषु विशेषत:।।1.33.7।।

अलङ्रकारो  हि नारीणां क्षमा तु पुरुषस्य  वा  |

Alankaaro hi naareenaam  kshamaa tu puirushasya cha.
Dushkaram taccha vah kshaantam tradasheshu visheshatah.
Tolerance is like a decoration for women, as also  in the
case of men .   But being so is very difficult, especially being very
patient and of divine nature.

आसीत्पूर्वं विमलजलधौ मण्डनं भूपतीनां
नारीणां च प्रबलमुकुटे काञ्चनेन प्रसङ्गात्  |
तन्त्रीबद्धः कथमिदमहोकाचखण्डेन  सार्धं
भिल्लीकण्ठे मरकतमणे कामवस्थां गतोSसि ||
 Aaseet-poorvam  vimala-jaladhau mandanam bhoopatenaam.
Naareenaam cha prabala-mukute kaaaaanchanena prasangaat.
Tantreebaddhah katha-midamaho-kaachakhandena saardham.
Bhillee-kanthe marakat-maane  kaamavasthaam  gatosi.

 O emerald gem !   initially you were inside the mighty Ocean,
and afterwards by your association with Gold you adorned the crowns
of kings and the tiaras of beautiful ladies.   Ah!  tell me as to how you
are now in such a bad situation that you are now stringed in a garland
along with ordinary glass beads and pieces and  being worn on the
neck by a triba woman  ?

एष धर्मो मयाख्यातो नारीणां परमा गतिः ।
या नारी कुरुते चान्यत् सा याति नरकं ध्रुवम् ॥

eṣa dharmo mayākhyāto nārīṇāṃ paramā gatiḥ |
yā nārī kurute cānyat sā yāti narakaṃ dhruvam || 

This eternal dharma of very great repute is the path to women for the highest good.Those who sway from dharma they will go to narakam.

अशक्तस्तु भवेत् साधुर् ब्रह्मचारी व निर्धनः ।
व्याधितो देवभक्तश्च वृद्धा नारी पतिव्रता ॥
aśaktastu bhavet sādhur brahmacārī va nirdhanaḥ |
vyādhito devabhaktaśca vṛddhā nārī pativratā || 
Powerless man becomes a sadhu, penniless a bachelor, man suffering from illness becomes a bhaktha, an elderly woman a pativratha,

This blog is dedicated to  India's launch of Aditya-L1 on sep 2nd 2023to  probe sun's Activities. We will see some beautiful slokas on Surya. Adhitya. Dinakara.... 

आदित्यस्य नमस्कारं ये कुर्वन्ति दिने दिने  |
जन्मान्तरसहस्रेषु   दारिद्र्यं  नोपजायते      ||
Aadityasya namaskaaram ye kurvanti dine dine.
Janmaantarasahreshu daaridryam nopajaayate.
Those persons who perform salutations to the sun  very day,
never face poverty in their future life (as also the present life) for thousands
of years .

पुनः प्रभातं पुनरेव शर्वरी
पुनः शशाङ्कः पुनरुद्यते रविः।
कालस्य किं गच्छति याति यौवनम्
तथापि लोकः कथितं न बुध्यते॥

Once again breaks the day and likewise again the night. Once again the moon rises and again rises the sun. What has the time to lose? Youth passes away, still people do not understand the supreme being.

गणयन्ति न ये सूर्यं वृष्टिं शीतं च कर्षकाः |
यतन्ते सस्यलाभाय तैः साकं हि वसामि अहं ||
ganayanti na ye suryam vrishtim shitam cha karshakah |
yatante sasyalabhaya taih sakam hi vasami aham ||
The farmers do not worry about the heat from the sun or the rain or the cold winters but consistently strive for good harvests. I (God) indeed live with them.

उदये सविता रक्तो रक्त:श्चास्तमये तथा।
सम्पत्तौ च विपत्तौ च महतामेकरूपता॥

The sun is red when it rises and it is also red when it sets, it is true that great men remain equal in happiness and sorrow.

यः पठति लिखति पश्यति परिपृच्छति पण्डितानुपाश्रयति |
तस्य दिवाकरकिरणैः नलिनीदलमिव विकास्यते बुद्धिः |

Intellect of a person who reads, writes, observes closely, inquires to clear his own doubts, lives in the company of wise and learned persons is intensified just as the lotus petals expand by the rays of sun.

आयुषः खण्डमादाय रविरस्तमयं गतः |
अहन्यहनि बोद्धव्यं किमेतत् सुकृतं कृतम् ||

ayushah khandamadaya ravirastamayam gatah |
ahanyahani boddhavyam kimetat sukritam kritam ||

The sun has gone to set and taken A little slice of life away.
So day and night, think! awaken! “What’s the good I've done today?”

अहोरात्रे विभजते सूर्यो मानुषदैविके ।
रात्रिः स्वप्नाय भूतानां चेष्टायै कर्मणामहः ॥
ahorātre vibhajate sūryo mānuṣadaivike |
rātriḥ svapnāya bhūtānāṃ ceṣṭāyai karmaṇāmahaḥ ||
The Sun divides days and nights, both human and divine, the night (being intended) for the repose of the created beings and the day for the exertion.

सूर्यालोकदशासु हर्षमयसे दोषाकरालोकने
सङ्कोचं भजसि श्रितालिषु मुहुर्दत्से परं जीवनम् ।
पङ्कं शश्वदधः करोषि वहसे नालीकशब्दं च तत्
विद्मः पद्म तनोति सन्निधिमसौ युक्ते त्वयि श्रीरिति ॥ ३८ ॥
In the presence of the Sun (सूर्य) you are happy. In the presence of the Moon (दोषाकर) you shrink. You often provide sustenance to the bees who seek shelter in you. You permanently lower the slush (on which you grow). You are called “naaleeka”. O Lotus, we know that Goddess Lakshmi has made her abode in you rightly.

मधु॒ वाता ऋतायते मधु क्षरन्ति सिन्धवः।
माध्वीर्नः सन्त्वोषधीः ॥
madhu̱ vātā ṛtāyate madhu kṣaranti sindhavaḥ।
mādhvīrnaḥ santvoṣadhīḥ ॥
The environment provides bliss to people leading their life
perfectly. Rivers bless us with sacred water and provide us
health, night, morning, vegetation. Sun bless us with peaceful
life. cows provide us with milk.

SHALYA DHARMA-शल्य धर्म

 SUBHASHITHANI:642

न हायनैर्न पलितैः न वित्तेन न बंधुभिः ।
ॠषयश्चक्रिरे धर्मं योऽनूचानः स नो महान् ॥Mahabharatha

na hAyanaiH na palitaiH na vittena na bandhubhiH ।
RushayaH chakrire dharmam yo anUchAnaH sa no mahAn ॥

It is not considered Dharma just because old people, people with white hair, rich people or your relatives said so. The sages have observed what is considered moral from ages and spoken that to be the Dharma. We value that the most.

न व्याधयो नापि यमः प्राप्तुं श्रेयः प्रतीक्षते ।
यावदेव भवेत् कल्पस्तावच्छ्रेयः समाचरेत् ॥

na vyAdhayo nApi yama prAptum shreyaH patIkShate ।
yAvadeva bhavet kalpaH tAvat shreyaH samAcharet ॥

Illness or Death do not wait for a man to accumulate good Karma by doing good things over time. So, do not wait longer. Keep on doing good as and when such opportunity arises.

 चागमादृते धर्मस्तर्केण व्यवतिष्ठते ।
ॠषीणामपि यज्ज्ञानं तदप्यागमपूर्वकम् ॥

na cha agamAdRute dharmaH tarkeNa vyavatiShThate ।
RuShINAmapi yat jnAnam tadapi agama pUrvakam ॥

Dharma does not stand solely on basis of debate and logic. It has to explained on the basis of what is there in the Vedas. Even the knowledge of all the sages is derived from the Vedas.

न माता शपते पुत्रं न दोषं लभते मही ।
न हिंसां कुरुते साधुर्न देवः सृष्टिनाशकः ॥

na mAtA shapate putram na doSham labhate mahI ।
na himsAm kurute sAdhuH na devaH sRuShTi nAshakaH ॥

A mother will never speak ill of her son. Nothing bad will ever stick to Earth. A virtuous person will never hurt any one. The Gods will never destroy this creation.

प्राप्य चलनधिकारान् शत्रुषु मित्रेषु बंधुवर्गेषु ।
नापकृतं नोपकृतं न सत्कृतं किं कृतं तेन ॥

prApya chalana adhikArAn shatruShu mitreShu bandhuvargeShu ।
na apakRutam na upakRutam na satkRutam kim kRutam tena ॥

Power is temporary. If one gets it and still does not use it to hurt his enemies, help his friends or favour his relatives - then what has he done?

नानृषिः कुरुते काव्यं नारुद्रः क्रमपाठकः ।
नादेवांशो ददात्यन्नं नाविष्णुः पृथिवीपतिः ॥

na anRishiH kurute kAvyam na arudraH kramapAThakaH ।
nAdevAmsho dadAti annam na aviShnuH prUthivIpatiH ॥

Only people who are sages (in parts) can be poets. Only people with qualities of Rudra can chant vedas. Only people who have godly qualities will be able to give food to others. Only people with qualities of Vishnu can rule and be good kings.

निकटस्थं गरीयांसमपि लोको न मन्यते ।
पवित्रमपि यन्मर्त्या न नमस्यन्ति जाह्नवीं ॥

When something great is right beside and readily available, people will not pay attention. People on the banks of Ganga do not worship her every day.

nikaTastham garIyAmsamapi loko na manyate ।
pavitramapi yanmartyA na namasyanti jAhnavIm ॥

सहस्व श्रियमन्येषां यद्यपि त्वयि नास्ति सा ।
अन्यत्रापि सतीं लक्ष्मीं कुशला भुंजते सदा ॥

sahasva shriyam anyeShAm yadyapi tvayi nAsti sA ।
anyatrApi satIm lakShmIm kushalA bhunjate sadA ॥

If you see wealth (that you don't have) with others, don't feel jealous. Just live with it. You must understand that if you have done good things in the past, then you will be able to enjoy the wealth even if it does not belong to you.
