Roopam- रूपं- FORM-APPEARANCE

  SUBHASHITHANI:648

The Creator has just been graceful and kind to humanity that He created flowers on creepers and trees in jungles, fruits on trees, juices in fruits, beauty in flowers and also fragrance in flowers.

persons with good character should be sought not those who are just beautiful. Even though a flower may be beautiful if it is without fragrance it should be avoided.

Beauty is of no use if you do not have right qualities. Being born in a good family is useless unless you develop character. If not practiced, education is of no use. If not used (enjoyed) wealth is of no use.

Woman is ruined through her beauty, a brahmia by serving the king, cattle by straying far, and money is lost by excessive greed for profit.

A cuckoo is recognized by its sweet voice, a woman by her fidelity toward husband , ugly looking persons get recognition by their knowledge, and sages by their (forgiveness) patience & rigorous self- discipline..

Roopam vidyaa dhanam dharmopyaphalah syaadvinaa tu yam.
Vinayosau na kairvaatra sampaadyah syaaddhiteshubhih.
Appearance (beauty), knowledge and learning, wealth and religiosity without self- control, all these are futile, unless a person has modesty and humility.  Therefore, persons who crave for their welfare, should be humble and modest in their behaviour.
Ati  roopena  vaa   Sita  ati  garvena  Raavanah.
Atidaanaadbalirbaddho  hyatih  sarvatra  varjayet.
Devi Sita, the consort of Lord Shri Ram was abducted by Ravana, the demon King, because of her being very beautiful, and Ravana himself got killed due to his excessive pride  The Demon King Bali was kept under bondage only because of  his very charitable nature.  That is why it is said that too much of anything, even if  it may be good, is harmful and should be given up in every case.

Morality is protected by truth, Vidya is protected by repeated study and practice. Cleanliness protects the beauty, and righteousness protects the clan.

rūpayauvanasampannā viśālakulasambhavāḥ।
vidyāhīnā na śobhante nirgandhāḥ kiṃśukā yathā॥
Though one be endowed with beauty and youth and born in noble families, yet without education they are like the Palasa flower which is void of sweet fragrance.

   SUBHASHITHANI:647

Stone can be broken by chisel, hard things by other hard materials,  snake can be charmed by chants, but wicked human can never be cured..
A person, whose mind does not blossom by an eloquent speech, a melodious song and the elegance of young women is surely an ascetic or an animal.

Sarvada sukaram mithram , dushkaram paripaalanam I
Anithyatvaath tu chithanaam preeti: alpe api bhidhyate IIRamayana
It is easy to initiate friendship. But, very difficult to sustain and develop it. Because of the unsteady nature of the human mind, worthy  friendships are broken due to flimsy reasons.
।Chanakya niti
A foolish person should be shunned just like a two-legged animal. He pierces with verbal spears, just as an invisible thorn does.

Loosened is the knot around the heart ,Slashed are all the doubts
Perished are these chains of Karma ,In that perception of the Supreme.

ambhasā bhidyate setustathā mantro'pyarakṣitaḥ|

With the constant and pressing onslaught of the water in the reservoir, a dam or bridge would become unstable and would break in the long run. A secret would be breached if it is not properly guarded. The love and affection between two people would be shattered when either of them indulges in backbiting and slander affecting the other. A person lacking in self- confidence can be easily broken through words that convey threats and dangers.

A secret that is heard by six ears will most certainly be leaked; a discussion is limited to four ears will always be kept secret. Therefore the wise should always avoid a discussion that is heard by six ears.”

In all activities and at all times, there will be no inauspicious and obstacles for those persons, in whose heart resides bhagavaan Hari - the home of the auspiciousness

A person whose face is always charming/enthusiastic, heart full of compassion, speech sweet like nectar (which will always give pleasure to the listener) and whose work is always to help the needy, then tell me for whom such a person will not be the most respected one?

The intelligent see by mind and heart.

The face is shaped of lotus, the speech is as cool as sandalwood, and the heart is full of anger - these are the three signs of cunningness.

The following three are the characteristics of a wicked person: lotus leaf like face, speech as cool as sandal wood and a heart burning with fire (of evil thoughts).
