 SUBHASHITHANI:653

One should get control over the world by forbearance, mercy, love, truthfulness, straightforwardness, humbleness and service attitude.

ātmānaṁ bhāvayēnnityaṁ jñānēna vinayēna ca
na punarmriyamāṇasya paścātāpō bhaviṣyati
Purify your soul continuously through right knowledge and good conduct ! If so, at the time of death there is no need to repent.
nayasya vinayo moolam vinayah shaastra nishchayah
vinayo hindrijayastadyuktah shaastramruchchhati
Humility is the root of all morality. Humility comes from understanding and sticking to the Scriptures. Humility is also the result of controlling one’s senses. One who is able to do that, he love to follow  the moral code.
A person who has the following five qualities which start with alphabet ' ' -'va', will be well respected in the society :(i) good dress sense (ii) good physique (iii) good communication skills, (iv) knowledge and (v) humility.

Knowledge gives modesty, modesty brings eligibility, eligibility brings wealth, wealth helps performing deeds, and from that comes happiness.

 ||
Pramaadah sampadam hanti prashrayam hanti vismayah.
Vyasanam hanti vinayam  hanti shokashcha dheerataam.
Wealth gets destroyed due to negligence. Courteous
and modest behaviour destroys pride and arrogance.   Bad
habits result in  destruction of  the feeling  of modesty and
decency among men and  grief among men tends to destroy
their courage and wisdom .
Whose  intelligence among men is not destroyed by mere wisdom without humility ; who is not filled with happiness by seeing gem embedded in gold.

MADU- मधु -HONEY-SWEET

 SUBHASHITHANI:652

A honey-bee acquires honey while protecting the flowers; similarly money (for tax) must be collected from people without any harassment.

samAjebhyaH sumanasAm subhAShitamayam madhu
yAvajjIvaM vichinvanti sAdhavo madhupA iva
  – harihara subhAShita

A wise man must accumulate good sayings from other wise men as long as he lives. Subhashitas as sweet as honey. And we must be as tireless as bee to collect them

mandaṁ hasantaṁ prabhayā lasantaṁ
janasya cittaṁ satataṁ harantaṁ
vēṇuṁ nitāntaṁ madhu vādayantaṁ
bālaṁ mukundaṁ manasā smarāmi ।।
Whose laughters is subtle, who glows with lustre, who always attracts people's mind and the one who plays the melodious flute, I remember
that young (baby) Lord Krishna in my mind.

When he looks at the honey comb hanging off the cliff, a fool sees only honey. He does not see the danger of falling into the valley below. Just like that people only see the short term pleasures and not their consequences

pipīlikārjitaṃ dhānyaṃ makṣikāsañcitaṃ madhu
lubdhena sañcitaṃ dravyaṃ samūlaṃ hi vinaśyati
Grain collected by an ant, honey collected by bees, and wealth accumulated by a greedy person, will all be destroyed along with its source.

Donate or consume, but don't accumulate wealth.
Someone else takes the accumulated honey of the bee.

Honey bees feed upon the nectar of lotus flowers and are
covered with the pollen of Saffron flowers, but woe betide the
Destiny, beautiful Swans have to remain content by eating the
moss grown under the water.

Never believe a wicked person even if he/she speaks in your favor because there may be honey on his tongue but poison in his heart.

‪To control an elephant with a lotus stem, or trying to cut a diamond with the delicate petals of the shirisha flower, or sweetening the salty ocean with a drop of honey — these are equivalent to want to reform the wicked with nectar sweet advice.

MADURAM- मधुरं- SWEET,PLEASANT

  SUBHASHITHANI:651

Adharam Madhuram Vadanam Madhuram
Nayanam Madhuram Hasitam Madhuram
Hridayam Madhuram Gamanam Madhuram
 Madhuraadhipaterakhilam Madhuram
Krishna’s lips are sweet, His face is sweet,
His eyes are sweet, His smile is sweet,
His loving heart is sweet, His gait (walk) is sweet,
Everything is completely sweet about the Lord of Sweetness.

Peetva rasaM tu katukaM madhurM samanaM
madhuRYamev janayenmadhumakshikasau santstathaiw samsajjandurjananaM
shrutawa vachh madhursuktarasM sRuJanti
Honey-bee collects Nectar bitter and sweet ; turns it into sweet honey .In the same way Sages hear the speeches of good and bad people but they speak only the words which are full of wisdom.

Valmiki, the cuckoo among poets, perched on the branches of the kavya roopa tree called Ramayana, sings the sweet letters Rama, Rama. That Valmiki cuckoo I salute.

A cloud consumes salty water from the sea and showers sweet water on the land. Such altruistic acts from the clouds and noble people are hard to believe!

Inspite of being very colourful, a flower is not adorned if it lacks fragrance. Similarly, mere sweet talk without any supporting action is not at all embellished.

dadhi madhuram madhu madhuram draakShaa madhuraa sudhaapi madhuraiva l
tasya tadeva hi madhuram yasya mano yatra samlagnam ll
Curd is pleasant, honey is pleasant, grapes are pleasant and sugar (or nectar), too, is pleasant. But (though all these things are pleasant) the only thing pleasant to one is that to which his mind is attached.
na abhyutthAna kriyA yatra na AlApA madhura akSharAH
guNa doShakathA naiva tatra harmye na gamyate
One must not visit a house where the guests are welcomed sitting down (not standing up in respect), where there are no sweet words spoken and where there is no harmless gossip.
Defects turn into virtues when they come from the good persons. Virtues turn into defects when they come from wicked. This is not an occasion to be surprised. The great cloud drinks salty water and makes rain water sweet. The serpent drinks milk, but emits intolerable poison.

Cause of the evilness of an evil person டன is not that he has not read moral codes of conduct or he has not studied sacred knowledge. Here, his innate nature alone surpasses the other merits. He is evil by nature just like cow milk is sweet by nature.

DHEERAH-धीरः-BRAVE,VALIANT

 SUBHASHITHANI:651

To a person of firm conviction the vast earth is like a courtyard , the ocean a small pond , the netherworld ( Patala) like a picnic spot and Mount Meru like anthill.

svayaṁ dhīrāḥ paṇḍitammanyamānāḥ |
dandramyamāṇāḥ pariyanti mūḍhā

 andhenaiva nīyamānā yathāndhāḥ ||

They who dwell in the ignorance, within it, wise in their own wit and deeming themselves very learned, men bewildered are they who wander about round and round circling like blind men led by the blind.

The gold is identified by burning in fire, nobility is known by one’s action, कहa virtuous man is known by his conduct . A hero is known in danger, the valiant in difficulty, and friends and foes in dire calamities .

One who does not burn in the fire of passion generated by the eye-arrows of beautiful women, who is not subjected to the heat of anger, whom the pleasures of the senses do not drag with ropes of greed – that person of adamantine heart conquers all the three worlds.

।Vidura niti

Rajan! The human body is the chariot, the intellect is the charioteer and the senses are its horses. A clever and patient man, who is careful by subduing them, travels happily like a charioteer with horses under control.

He who does not show even a little contempt towards the weak, handles the enemies with discern, steers clear from having a conflict with the stronger and demonstrates valour is brave.
He whose wisdom flashes in times of adversity, is indeed brave.

calanti girayaḥ kāmaṁ yugāntapavanāhatāḥ
kr̥cchrē:'pi na calatyēvaṁ dhīrāṇāṁ niścalaṁ manaḥ
The mountains move at will, blown by the winds of the end of the ages.
The mind of the steadfast is thus unmoved even in the face of adversity.

One who during adversity ,unmindful of the difficulty stands courageous, without any pride and vigilant such a person always  attains glory in everything.
