 SUBHASHITHANI:663

Fear is removed by knowledge, one attains high status by austerity, knowledge is attained by service of the Guru and peace is attained by yoga
.

Behaving with a person in the same manner as he has initiated trea

ting us is not regarded unjust and does not affect his reputation.

yathaa dhenusahastreShu    vatso vindati maataram

tathaa poorvakrutam karma  kartaaramanugachhat

As calf recognizes its mother among thousands of cows; similarly, previous deeds go with the doer.

Avishraantam vahedbhaaram  sheetoshna  cha  na bindati.
Sa santoshastathaa nityam treeni shiksht gardhabhaat.
Bearing very heavy weights incessantly without showing
weariness or protest,  unconcerned with cold and hot weather
conditions,  and being always contented at whatever he is fed.
are  the three  characteristics  of  a donkey, which  we  should
learn from a donkey.

। Bhagavad Gita
In this world there exists no purifier comparable to knowledge. One who becomes perfect in Yoga finds this, on his own accord, in his Self in course of time.
Khanitvaa hi  khanitrena  bhootale  vaari  vindati.
Tathaa gurugataam  vidyaa  shushrooshuradhigacchati.
Just as by digging the surface of earth with the help of  a spade and pick axe  we are able to find underground water  , in the same manner the Knowledge a Teacher possesses, can be learnt by a student by diligently serving and obeying his Teacher.
A person who hurts others needlessly gets hurt himself. Therefore a person who is afraid of getting hurt should desist from harming others.

People who sacrifice their life for the interest of the country, help the needy, and who  always act benevolently to others , will gain respect of the world.

DHAAVATI-धावति- RUN.FLEE

  SUBHASHITHANI:662

mano dhaavati sarvatra madonmattagajendravat
jnyaanaankushasamaa buddhistasya nishchalate manah
Like an elephant frantic due to rut, the mind wanders everywhere. The intellect, however, controls and steadies the same with the hook of knowledge.

Ashaa naama manushyaanaam kaashchidaashcharyashrunkhalaa.
ayaa baddhaa przadhaavanti muktaastishthanti kutrachit
The life of people bound by the invisible chain of hope and
insatiable desire is affected in a very surprising manner.  Those who
are bound by this invisible chain run amok, but those who are not bound by
it are found to be relaxing  and well contented under any circumstance.

Let the saints see God in the form of a formless, quality-less, activity-less entity or alight. This may be possible since they have mastered the process of meditation. Let them have their ways. But for us, let God be always seen as that blue boy running and playing blue boy running and playing on the sands of Yamuna (Sri Krishna).…

That is, the knowledge acquired in previous births, the wealth of previous births, and the virtuous deeds of previous births are indirectly received in the next birth.

BHRUTHYAH- भृत्यः-SERVANT

SUBHASHITHANI:660

avṛttikaṃ prabhuṃ bhṛtyā apuṣpaṃ  bhramarāstarum |
aṃjalī ca saro haṃsā muñcantyapi ciroṣitam ||
Servants leave a master who does not support them ; bees a tree without flowers ; swans a tank without water, in spite of long association.

Daasi bhrutyah suto bandurvastu vahanameva cha I

A person is said to enjoy eight comforts :  Maid servants, servants, children, relatives, various things, vehicles, wealth  and food  grains .

pratyakShe guruvaH stutyaH prokShe mitra bandhavaH |
kAryAnte dAsa bhRutyaH svaputraH na kadachana ||

Guru should be praised on the face, friends and relatives behind their back; servants after they finish a job, and one’s own sons-—never!

A spoilt wife, wicked friend, and impertinent servant, are all like a house infested by serpents. Without a doubt, death resides there.
All of these will leave a person who under the grasp of anger at all times - son, servant, well-wishers, friends, wife, dharma and truth. None of these can peacefully co-exist with anger.

A king is sure to be ruined on the loss of his territory as of his talented servant; but the equality between the two cannot be properly expressed; an able servant is more than just land.

Mother will scold. Father will not rejoice.  Brother will not speak. Friends will be angry. Son will not accompany. Wife will not embrace. Due to fear of being asked for a loan, the friend does not have a friendly conversation. So, all of you, listen!  Take resort in money. Everyone is controlled only by the money.

There is no servant equals to Dharma, who comes in through gently called, ever vigilant without sloth and runs the errand by a little speech.

VAIRAM- वैरं- ENMITY

SUBHASHITHANI:659

Enmity never ends in this world by countering enmity with enmity. Its end is possible only by behaving in harmony and not enmity, this is the eternal Dharma.

Bhadram bhadramiti brooyaadbhadramityeva  vaa vadet.
Shushkavairam  Vivede cha na kuryaatkenac itsaha.
One should always speak pleasantly and in a friendly
manner and never use harsh and foul language.  If per chance
he has to say something unpleasant, he should use  cultured
and polite language,  and should  never  have enmity and
disputes without any ground with others.

People show contempt towards the soft and gentle persons and are agitated by the rude persons. Thus, giving up that pair of attitudes, one should resort to neutral behaviour.

Extreme of anger, harsh speech, poverty, enmity with relatives,
association with evil men, service of people from not so good a family –
these are the marks of people living in Hell.

We know that in the past gambling was cause of intense enmity. Thus, a wise man should never indulge in the gambling, not even for the purpose of entertainment.

Never should love, friend, and antagonism from the wicked, because it is like coal which burns us if it is hot and blackens the body when it is cold.

Enmity ends with death. our job is over. (Now) he(Ravan) is mine as he is yours. so do his cremation properly. These are sentences of Shri Ram after the death of Ravan on Vijaya Dashami. (Rama to Vibhishana)

indriyāṇi purā jitvā jitan tribhuvanaṃ tvayā
smaradbhiriva tadvairamindriyaireva nirjitaḥ

In the past, by performing a great penance, you
conquered the senses and conquered the three worlds.
Now, as if revenging that enmity, those very senses conquered you.
(Mandodari comment on Ravana post his death)

When there is a wound, one frequently stumbles in that wounded area. When the money is gone (one becomes poor), the hunger increases. When one is in trouble, the enmities crop up. When there is a loophole (when divided), problems become aplenty.
