VINAYAM- विनयं (2)- HUMILITY

 SUBHASHITHANI:654

नभो  भूषा पूषा कमलवन भूषा मधुकरो
वचो भूषा सत्यं वरविभव भूषा वितरणं
मनो भूषा मैत्री मधु समय भूषा मनसिजः
सभो भूषा सूक्तिः स्सकल गुण भूषा च विनयः II
The sky is adorned by the sun, a lotus pond is adorned by the bees, truth adorns speech, charity adorns grand functions, mind is adorned by friendship, vasantha kala brightens kama, wise words makes a sabha respected, all good activities are adorned by humility.

अनिच्छन्तोऽपि विनयं विद्याभ्यासेन बालकाः ।
भेषजेनेव नैरुज्यं प्रापणीयाः प्रयत्नतः ॥

anicchantō'pi vinayaṁ vidyābhyāsēna bālakāḥ ।
bhēṣajēnēva nairujyaṁ prāpaṇīyāḥ prayatnataḥ ॥

Just as a disease (is treated) through obtaining medicine; children should be taught humility (and values), through education, even if not desired

यथा  नमन्ति  पाथोभिः  पाथोदाः  फलदः  फलैः I
नमन्ति  विनयानेव  तद्वत्  उत्तम  पूरुषाः II
Just As trees laden with fruits bend down, in the same way great men bow down with humility.

विनयफलं शुश्रूषा गुरुशुश्रूषाफलं श्रुतं ज्ञानम् ।
ज्ञानस्य फलं विरतिः विरतिफलं चाश्रवनिरोधः ॥
The fruit of humility is service, the fruit of service to the Guru is knowledge, the fruit of knowledge is detachment, and detachment leads to salvation. 

संभ्रमः स्नेःहं आक्याति वपुर् आक्याति भोजनं              
 विनयो वम्शमाक्याति देशमाख्याति भाषणम्।
One’s conduct reveals one’s family, speech reveals one’s native place, hustle and bustle when one welcomes the guest reveals one’s affection and physique reveals one’s food habits.

विनयः  कारणं  मुक्तेः  विनयः  कारणं  श्रियः
विनयः  कारणं  प्रीतेः  विनयः  कारणं  मतेः
vinayah kaaranam mukteh vinayah kaaranam shriyah
vinayah kaaranam preeteh vinayah kaaranam mateh
Modesty leads to liberation, wealth, love and intelligence.

विनश्यन्ति समस्तानि व्रतानि विनयं विना ।
सरोरुहाणि तिष्ठन्ति सलिलेन विना कुतः ॥ ६६०
Vinashyanti samastani vratani vinayam vina ।
Saroruhani tishtanti salilena vina kutah ॥
All vows get destroyed without humility.
How can a lotus in a lake sustain without water?
