PURAANAM- पुराणं - ANCIENT, EPIC

 SUBHASHITHANI:484

purAnamityeva na sAdhu sarvam ,

na chApi kAvyam navamityavadyam I
santaha parikshatart bhajante,

muDhah parapratyayena buddhihi II Malavikagni mitra

All that's ancient is not necessarily good; Nor a composition be treated as bad just because it is modern. The wise analyze both and accept what is right. The unwise are lead by the understanding and beliefs of others.

II Shakuntalam

Sakuntala tells Dushyantha : You think by repudiating me you have cheated me without anyone knowing about it. But, there in your heart dwells ‘Paramaathma’ as sarva sakshi witnessing the sin committed by you. You can never cheat your own conscience.

Shambu stuti
Namaami Shambhum Purussam Puraannam
Namaami Sarvajnyam-Apaara-Bhaavam |
Namaami Rudram Prabhum-Akssayam Tam
Namaami Sharvam Shirasaa Namaami ||1||

 I bow down to Shambhu (the cause of happiness), who is the primeval being (ever present in all as consciousness),
I bow down (to Him) who is all-knowing and whose meditative state (symbolising our innermost consciousness) is boundless,
I bow down to Rudra who is the lord of all (in fierce form associated with destruction), and who is undecaying in nature,
I bow down to Sharva (who holds the entire earth); I bow down my head (again and again to all these forms).

Idam Bhagvatam Puranam BrahmaSammitam

BhaktiGyanViragaaNam Sthaapanaaya Prakaashitam

This Bhagvat purana is compatible with Vedas Shree Vyasa Maharshi gave this for establishment of "Bhakti , Gyan & "Vairagaya"

As Ganga is foremost in the Rivers , Kashi (Prayaga) among Tirthas Vishnu is foremost in Devatas , And Shree Shankar Mahadeva is foremost in Vaishnavas , is this purana among all the puranas.

Just as the four kinds of beings are contained in space, all the Purāṇas are contained in this great epic.

The five main themes of the Purāṇas are: सर्ग (primary creation), प्रतिसर्ग (secondary creation or deluge), वंश (lineage of deities, kings, and seers), मन्वन्तर (the life times of the fourteen manus), and वंशानुकीर्तनम् (achievements of the vamshas). (Amarakosha 148.185)

HARI- हरिः -

 SUBHASHITHANI:483

Harinaapi harenaapi brahmaapi surairapi,
Lalata likhitha rekha parimaarshtum nasakyathe.
None of the gods, even Vishnu, Shiva or Brahma
can erase that which is written on the forehead.

 Anukule vidhau deyam yatah purayita harih
Pratikule vidhau deyam sarvam harishyati
 When in comfort one should give as Lord is the supplier. When in
discomfort one should give as otherwise fate will take away everything.

kamale brahmA shete haraH shete himAlaye |
kshIrabdhau cha hariH shete manye matkuNashankaya ||
Brahma sleeps on a lotus, Shiva sleeps in Himalaya, Vishnu sleeps in Ksheersaagar--it's all due to the fear of bugs in their bed!
In this meaningless world only one place is worth to live in! And that place is the home of father-in-law! Shiva sleeps in himalayas and Hari sleeps in milky ocean.

Harirharati pApAni duShtacittairapi smruta: |
anicchayApi samspruShto dahatyevahi pAvaka: ||
Hari dispels all the sins of even people with evil mind; just as the fire burns even if touched unintentionally.
Yasmin shaastre puraane vaa hari baktir na drusyate I
Shrotavyam naiva tat shaastram yadi bramhaa svayam vadet II
In whatever shastraa or puraanaa , there is no mention of devotion to sri Vishnu( Hari)  such shaastram or puraanaam should not be entertained even if it is narrated by  Brahmaaji  himself.

The penniless man wishes for a hundred, the one who has hundred wants a thousand, the one with a thousand, a lakh. The one with a lakh wants to be the king, the king wants to be the emperor, and the emperor wants to be
Indra (king of Gods), Indra want's brahma's position, brahma shiva's and
shiva viShNu's - who has ever been able to kill desire?
( The heirarchy of shiva padam and vishnu padam can be interchanged with no change to the overall meaning of the sloka )
||

One should always look at the way one is dressed, for dress is important for judging one’s suitability; the Samudra raja looking at the rich silk yellow dhoti gave his daughter Lakshmi to Hari and seeing Siva scantly dressed gave him the kala koota poison.

"sharIre jharjharIbhUte vyAdhigraste kalevare |
auShadhaM jAhnavItoyaM vaidyo nArAyaNo hariH ||"
 "When the sharIra (body) is suffering and the body is beset with disease, medicine is like the sacred water of the Ganga and the doctor is naaraayana Himself". ( There are many other meanings attributed to this sloka )

In Kaliyuga, there is no path other than taking the name of Shri Hari, which alone is my life.

Behold the highly mighty and magnanimous monarchs whom, after ruling the earth abounding in wealth and corn for a while, have fallen victims to the God of Destruction, giving up all their kingdoms and extensive enjoyments.
