EIGHT FLOWERS DEAR TO SRI VISHNU

Subhashitham:015

The eight flowers  which are dear to Sri Vishnu :
Ahimsa Prathamam Pushpam   Pushpam Indriya Nigraha:
Sarvabhuta Daya Pushpam    Kshama Pushpam Visheshatha:
Jnanam  Pushpam Tapa Pushpam    Shanthi Pushpam Thathaiva cha
Satyam Ashtavidham Pushpa:    Vishno: Preetikaram Bhaveth  II

1. Ahimsa - Non-Violence.
 2. Indriya Nigraha: - Sense Control.
3. Sarva Bhuta Daya - Love to all Living Beings.
4. Kshama - Forgiveness.
5. Jnanam - Knowledge.
6. Tapas - Austerities / Meditation
7. Shanti - Peace. Peace arises when we realize that all things happen by God's will.
8. Satyam - Truth. Truth is Sri Vishnu Himself.  To abide by truth and never swerving from it is the final (8th) flower offering to Vishnu.
Bhagavan  Sri Vishnu is indeed pleased by offering the above mentioned eight flowers.
 (Vishno: preetikaram bhaveth!)    By inculcating these Sattwa  Gunas in us, we'll become dear to the lord.
Sri Krishna himself says in the Bhagavad Gita
पत्रं पुष्पं फलं तोयं यो मे भक्त्या प्रयच्छति |
तदहं भक्त्युपहृतमश्नामि प्रयतात्मन: ||BG9. 26||
patra puhpa phala toya yo me bhaktyā prayachchhati
tadaha
bhaktyupahitam aśhnāmi prayatātmana
If one offers to Me with devotion a leaf, a flower, a fruit, or even water, I delightfully partake of that article offered with love by My devotee in pure consciousness.
Also in BG  ch12 :
adveṣhṭā sarva-bhūtānāṁ maitraḥ karuṇa eva cha
nirmamo nirahankāraḥ sama-duḥkha-sukhaḥ kṣhamī
santuṣhṭaḥ satataṁ yogī yatātmā dṛiḍha-niśhchayaḥ
mayy arpita-mano-buddhir yo mad-bhaktaḥ sa me priyaḥ

Those devotees are very dear to Me who are free from malice toward all living beings, who are friendly, and compassionate. They are free from attachment to possessions and egotism, equipoised in happiness and distress, and ever-forgiving. They are ever-contented, steadily united with Me in devotion, self-controlled, firm in conviction, and dedicated to Me in mind and intellect.
Sri Krishnaya thubhyam nama:
