kiṃ krandasi durākranda sva-pakṣa-kṣaya-kāraka |
sva-pakṣasya kṣaye jāte ko nas trātā bhaviṣyati || 4.31 ||
Why do you cry now, your cry is of no use and you have brought ruin on your family; when one’s own kith and kin are no more who will be the saviour?

bubhukṣitaḥ kiṃ na karoti pāpaṃ
kṣīṇā narā niṣkaruṇā bhavanti |
ākhyāhi bhadre priya-darśanasya

What all vices a hungry person does not commit? Generally, a hungry person gives up empathy, compassion and kindness. My dear friend! go and tell the snake that Ganga Datta ( frog king )will never come to the well again.

The story of the Lion and Donkey

Once there lived in a forest a wounded lion who could not go for hunting. He had a clever fox as a servant. The lion asked the fox to go around and bring some animal whom he can kill and then they can eat. The fox roamed around and found a donkey. He cleverly enticed him by saying that if he would follow him he would take him to a place where three beautiful female donkeys are waiting for him. The donkey followed the fox and met with his death.
āgataś ca gataś caiva gatvā yaḥ punar āgataḥ |
akarṇa-hṛdayo mūrkhas tatraiva nidhanaṃ gataḥ || 4.33 ||
He came once and saw the might of the lion and went back, But that fool, who having neither ears to hear nor a mind to think, went back again and  got himself killed.

Except a woman there is nothing that may be called a nectar or poison both at the same time; by being in company one lives; separated from whom one dies.

yāsāṃ nāmnāpi kāmaḥ syāt saṅgamaṃ darśanaṃ vinā |
tāsāṃ dṛk-saṅgamaṃ prāpya yan na dravati kautukam || 4.35 ||
By mere mention of whose name, without union or sight, passion is raised, it is a wonder if one does not melt on meeting with the glances of those women.

strī-mudrāṃ makaradhvajasya jayinīṃ sarvārdha-sampat-karīṃ
 te mūḍhāḥ pravihāya yānti kudhiyo mithyā-phalānveṣiṇaḥ |
te tenaiva nihatya nirdayataraṃ nagnīkṛtā muṇḍitāḥ
 kecid rakta-paṭīkṛtāś ca jaṭilāḥ kāpālikāś cāpare || 4.36 ||
Those fools, who ignore the command of the God of Love, which appears in the form of a woman, and instead go after vain fruits ( that obtained by following celibacy and fasts ) are by  that very god made to wander about naked and shaven, some wearing saffron robes, some of matted hair and others having a garland of human skulls.

jānann api naro daivāt prakaroti vigarhitam |
karma kiṃ kasyacil loke garhitaṃ rocate katham || 4.37 ||
Though men know better, they often commit reprehensible acts due to
 adverse fate. How else a man takes a liking for  shameful acts which deserve condemnation?
