SUBHASHITHANI:211
MATSARYA... The sense that others have it and I don’t have it is jealousy. Finding it intolerable that others are as
happy as oneself, Matsarya makes one miserable; over other's good fortune.
Only I should have all things is the feeling of Matsarya (The last of the six enemies-Shad ripu ) .Duryodhana was an epitome of maatsarya.
(Matsarya - envy, jealousy, vanity, and pride , असूया , ईर्षुः and मत्सरः are synonymous)

Birth is invaded by death, youth which is fleeting as the lightning by agedness (senility), contentment by greed for wealth, tranquility by the flirtations of women, good qualities by jealous persons, forests by snakes, kings by evil men and abundance of riches by instability. There is nothing in this world which is not adversely affected by something or other.
