ABSENCE OF ANGER- AKRODHAH- अक्रोध:

SUBHASHITHANI:221
Akrodha -in sanskrit  means “absence of anger.” . Manu has listed Akrodha  among the ten primary virtues. Akrodha is one of the twenty six divine attributes( Daivee sampat ) a person can have, states Bhagavad Gita.
Akrodha is demonstrated when there is a reason to  become angry, but people choose not to succumb to anger. It is not the absence of causes of anger, but the absence of an angry reaction to  potential causes  like false accusations, insults, or abuse .
In this blog we will see some subhashithani on 'Akrodha'.

Conquer anger by calmness; evil by good; miserliness by charity and lies by truth.

Even when the wrongs done by others burn you as the flaming of many fires , it is good if you can abstain from anger.

Bheeshma lists the nine rules of dharma as consisting of : Absence of anger, truthfulness, sharing of wealth, forgiveness, children from wife only , purity, absence of enmity, straightforwardness, and caring for those who are dependent on us.

An inherently calm person , if he  gets angry , then it may result in colossal tragedy. Rama’s anger resulted in the ocean ( samudra raja ) being bridged( Setu bandhan ).
குணமென்னும் குன்றேறி நின்றார் வெகுளி

The wrath of those who have scaled the mountain of virtue, it is hard even for an instant to endure .
