Our greatest glory is
not in never failing,
but in rising every time we fail.– Confucius

void becomes full , even the ‘death’( ignorance)
turns into ‘deathlessness’ (Atma-gyana ) , adversity turns to prosperity when in
the company of wise men.

The sun looks alike while rising and setting. Great men too remain alike
in both the good and bad times.

If servant is very loyal, but neither intelligent nor brave then he is of no use. If he is both intelligent and brave but lacks loyalty, then again he is of no use. Only those servants who are loyal, courageous and intelligent are the real reasons of a kings prosperity. The others are only playing supporting roles during prosperity and adversity.
(The Mudrarakshasa,-The Signet of the Minister- is a Sanskrit play by Vishakhadatta that narrates the ascent of the king Chandragupta Maurya.)

Not controlling the senses is the road to adversity and sorrow.
Conquering the senses is the road to prosperity and happiness.
Choose either of the two which you like; that is your decision.

Great people are endowed with riches. But, it is also the great who have
to undergo many difficulties. The
moon waxes and wanes whereas stars
remain the same.

It is usually people who are righteous that get to attract troubles. In
a forest it is always the tree with a straight trunk that gets cut first (or
falls first in case of wind).

In times of prosperity, the minds of great people
are as soft as gentle water lilies, whereas in adversity when going gets tough,
they become as hard as a huge mass of solid rock.
