CHANCE-यदृच्छा- ACCIDENTALLY, AKASMAAT-अकस्मात्

SUBHASHITHANI:222
यथागदं वीर्यतममुपयुक्तं यदृच्छया ।
अजानतोऽप्यात्मगुणं कुर्यान्मंत्रोऽप्युदाहृतः ॥Bhagavatham
yathAgadam vIryatam amupayuktam yadRucChayaa ।
ajAnato api AtmaguNam kuryAt mantraH api udAhRutaH ॥

 A good medicine will be beneficial to the body even if consumed by accident. Just like that a hymn will do good to a person chanting it without knowing the true meaning of the same.

ग्रासं सुमृष्टं विरसं महान्तं स्तोकम् एव वा।
यदृच्छया एव अपतितं ग्रसेत् आजगरः अक्रियः॥२॥Uddhava gita
Graasam sumrushtam virasam mahaantam stokam eva vaa I
Yadrucchayaa eva apatitam graset aajagarah akriyah II
Whether food be delicious or insipid , sumptuous or scanty, the sage who lives a python’s life should take just what comes itself , without exerting himself for it. 
यदृच्छालाभसन्तुष्टो द्वन्द्वातीतो विमत्सर: |
सम: सिद्धावसिद्धौ च कृत्वापि न निबध्यते
|| BG4.22||
yadichchhā-lābha-santuho dvandvātīto vimatsara
sama
siddhāvasiddhau cha kitvāpi na nibadhyate
Content with whatever gain comes of its own accord, and free from envy, they are beyond the dualities of life. Being equipoised in success and failure, they are not bound by their actions, even while performing all kinds of activities.
यदृच्छयोपलब्धेन संतुष्टो मितभुञ् मुनिः ।
विविक्तशरणः शांतो मैत्रः करुण आत्मवान् ॥Srimad Bhagavatham
yadRucChayaH upalabdhena santuShTo mitabuk muniH ।
vivikta sharaNaH shAnto maitraH karuNa AtmavAn ॥
He is considered to have known his self if he can - be satisfied by windfall that happens once in a while (not greedy), eats less, lives a life of a hermit, likes to live by himself, peaceful, greets everyone friendly and shows compassion towards everyone.
In Valmiki Ramayana we find the use of' yadrucchayaa' in two critical moments which changed the whole course of Ramayana.  Here are those two very famous verses:
ज्ञातिदासी यतो जाता कैकेय्या तु सहोषिता |
प्रासादं चन्द्रसङ्काशमारुरोह यदृच्छया || २-७-१
Manthara, a housemaid who was residing with Kaikeyi since her birth, accidentally ascended the balcony of Kaikeyi’s white palace, which resembled the full moon.
तदा आसीनस्य रामस्य कथा संसक्त चेतसः |
तम् देशम् राक्षसी काचिद् आजगाम यदृच्छया || ३-१७-५
At one time when Rama is sitting in hermitage and heartily absorbed in telling narratives some demoness arrived at that place, fortuitously. [3-17-5].
ஊழிற் பெருவலி யாவுள மற்றொன்று
சூழினுந் தான்முந் துறும். Kural: 380
What is stronger than fate ? If we think of an expedient to avert it , fate's beforehand still.
अकृत्वा पौरुषं या श्रीः विकासिन्यपि किं तया 
जरद्गवोऽपि चाश्नाति दैवादुपगतं तृणम् 
aktvā paurua yā śrīḥ vikāsinyapi ki tayā
jaradgavo'pi c
āśnāti daivādupagata tṛṇ
am ॥
What if one's wealth is blossoming without his effort? Even an old bull can graze the grass that becomes available by chance!
अकस्मादेव कुप्यन्ति प्रसीदन्त्यनिमित्ततः
शीलमेतदसाधूनाम् अभ्रं पारिप्लवं यथा
Akasmaadeva  kupyanti praseedantyanimittatah I
Sheelamemetad asaadoonam abhram paariplavam yatha II
Gets angry with out reason, becomes gracious suddenly; this is the nature of the wicked ; unsteady like the thunder cloud.
अकस्मादेव यः कोपाद् अभीक्ष्णं बहु भाषते
 तस्मादुद्विजते लोकः सस्फुलिङ्गादिवानलात्
Akasmadeva yah kopaad abheekshanam bahu bhaashate I
Tasmad udvijate lokkkah sasphulingaadivaanalaat II
With out any reason ,because of anger , If some one habitually talks abusively , then the world would shun him like people would move away from sparks emanating from fire.
अकस्माद्द्वेष्टि यो भक्तम् आजन्मपरिसेवितम् 
 व्यञ्जने रुचिर्यस्य त्याज्यो नृप इवातुरः 
Akasmat dveshti yo bhaktam aajanmaparisevitam I
Na vyanjane ruchiryasya tyaajyo nrupa ivaturah II
One must leave the services of a king, like a patient’s dislike for a good meal, if the king hates one serving him for a long time with out any reason.
य उपेक्षेत शत्रुं स्वं प्रसरन्तं यदृच्छया ।
रोगं चालस्य-संयुक्तः स शनैस् तेन हन्यते ॥ २ ॥Pancha tantra
ya upekṣeta śatruṃ svaṃ prasarantaṃ yadṛcchayā |
rogaṃ cālasya-saṃyuktaḥ sa śanais tena hanyate || 2 ||
A person who ignores an enemy who is growing from strength to strength, who ignores an ailment due to laziness - both share the same fate. They will both be, in time, killed by what they ignored.
