FIRE-A PURIFIER- पावकः,वह्निः,

 SUBHAHITHANI:361

Na kaschit chanda kopaanaam aatmeeyo naama bhoobhujam I

Hotaaramapi juhvantam sprushto dahati paavakah II

No one would like to be close to a king who is always angry. The fire when contacted burns even the head priest performing the yagya II

Niti satakam

Kadarthitasyaapi hi dhairya vrutteh
na shakyat dhairya gunah pramaashtum I
Adho mukhasyaapi krutasya vahneh
Naadah shikhaa yaanti kadaachideva II

Fortitude of a brave person cannot be obliterated even if he is despised. The flames of a fire even if held downwards it shines only upwards.

The agni devata has several names. Some of them are mentioned in this sloka:
Barhih, shushmaa, krishnavartmaa, shochishkesha, usharbudhah I
Aashrayaasho, bruhadbhanuh, krushaanuh, paavako, analah II

Reactions to calamities should be considered well in advance.
It is no good to start digging a well when the house is on fire!

Anger is foremost enemy of humankind, which inherently resides within oneself only to destroy him, just like fire which is enkindled by a piece of wood ends up burning the piece.
"As I have never been unfaithful in act, thought and speech to Rama, who knows all the virtues, so let the fire-god protect me."
Abravettu tadaa Ramam saakshee lokasya paavakah I
Eshaa te Rama Vaidhee paapamasyaam na vidhyate II Ramayana 6.118.5
Then, the fire-god, the witness of the whole world, spoke to Rama as follows "Here is your Seetha. No sin exists in her."
Niti satakam
Fire becomes water, ocean becomes a small canal, mountain Meru becomes a small rock, lion becomes a deer, a serpent becomes a garland and poison becomes ambrosia for a person in whom morality adored by the whole world shines.

nainaṁ chhindanti śhastrāṇi nainaṁ dahati pāvakaḥ
na chainaṁ kledayantyāpo na śhoṣhayati mārutaḥ
Weapons cannot shred the soul, nor can fire burn it. Water cannot wet it, nor can the wind dry it.

puShpe gandham tile tailam kAShThe'gnim payasi ghRitam |
ikShau guDam tathA dehe pashyAtmAnam vivekataH ||
[As] fragrance in flower, oil in sesame seeds, fire in wood , ghee (fat) in milk, sugar in sugarcane, so see the Supreme Divine in the body by the power of discrimination.
yathaidhastejasā vahniḥ prāptaṃ nirdahati kṣaṇāt |
tathā jñānāgninā pāpaṃ sarvaṃ dahati vedavit || 11.246 ||Manusmruti
Just as fire, in a moment, consumes with its heat the fuel placed upon it, so does the man learned in the Veda destroy all sins by the fire of knowledge.

SRI KRISHNAYA THUBHYAM NAMAH
