Man is not to be
satisfied by wealth, if wealth were needed, we shall get it ,if only we see
thee. But the only boon worth asking
is the knowledge of the Transcendental Truth. Teach me what survives when the body
falls.” ( Nachiketa to Yama dharma )

The Moral code gets protected by charitable use of wealth , and knowledge gets
protected by its diligent practice. A king by
conciliatory words, and a home gets protection by its virtuous
women family members.

When the money is gone, what dependents are there?
When the truth is known, what binding samsara will be there?

five are determined
while a man is yet in the womb.

A wise person keeps these nine things only to one's self as
secrets: one's age, wealth, domestic problems, sacred hymns, medicinal
drugs, one's private life, charity, praise and humiliation.

gains respect by donating wealth and not by accumulating it. Clouds which give
water have a higher position and seas which accumulate water occupy a lower
position.

Wealth is a perpetual
source of distress, it is most difficult to acquire, and it is virtual death
for the soul. What satisfaction does one actually gain from his wealth?
Similarly, how can one gain ultimate or permanent happiness from one’s
so-called home, children, relatives and domestic animals, which are all
maintained by one’s hard-earned money?
