अन्तः-स्थेनाविरुद्धेन सुवृत्तेनातिचारुणा ।
अन्तर्-भिन्नेन सम्प्राप्तं मौक्तिकेनापि बन्धनम् ॥ ८१ ॥
antaḥ-sthenāviruddhena
suvṛttenāticāruṇā |
antar-bhinnena samprāptaṃ
mauktikenāpi bandhanam || 4.81 ||
The pearl is solid,
smooth, and very beautiful; even so, when a hole is pierced through it’s center,
it gets tied by a thread.
सम्भाव्यं गोषु सम्पन्नं सम्भाव्यं ब्राह्मणे तपः ।
सम्भाव्यं स्त्रीषु चापल्यं सम्भाव्यं जातितो भयम् ॥ ८२ ॥
sambhāvyaṃ goṣu sampannaṃ sambhāvyaṃ brāhmaṇe tapaḥ |
sambhāvyaṃ strīṣu cāpalyaṃ sambhāvyaṃ jātito bhayam || 4.82 ||
Where cows are in plenty there will be prosperity, where vedic scholars are present there will be austerity, where there are many women there will be fickleness, and where relatives abound you can expect lot of criticism.
सम्भाव्यं स्त्रीषु चापल्यं सम्भाव्यं जातितो भयम् ॥ ८२ ॥
sambhāvyaṃ goṣu sampannaṃ sambhāvyaṃ brāhmaṇe tapaḥ |
sambhāvyaṃ strīṣu cāpalyaṃ sambhāvyaṃ jātito bhayam || 4.82 ||

एको दोषो विदेशस्य स्वजातिर् यद् विरुध्यते ॥ ८३ ॥

eko doṣo videśasya svajātir yad virudhyate || 4.83 ||
There are many comforts, the women are beautiful too, there is only one problem in foreign lands; your own men plot against you.

कुरङ्गो ऽपि समश्नाति दैवाद् उपनतं तृणम् ॥ ८४ ॥
akṛtvā pauruṣaṃ yā śrīḥ kiṃ tayālasa-bhāgyayā |
kuraṅgo 'pi samaśnāti daivād upanataṃ tṛṇam || 4.84 ||
"There is no true happiness in what you get without effort.; Even an old bullock survives on food that comes his way."
