What merit is there in deceiving people who are suppliant, in this world, who are made to converse with you with sweet words, who are won over by duplicity, who thereby entertain hopes and placed their trust in you?
उपकारिणि विश्रब्धे शुद्ध-मतौ यः समाचरति पापम् ।

Who ever practices evil
upon a helpful, trust worthy, and pure hearted person, oh! Divine mother, how
do you bear such a treacherous person?

Never make friendship or enmity with wicked people; a charcoal burns when hot and when cold blackens the hand.

Initially falls at the
feet, later bites the back; he sings some nice songs in to the ear and at the opportune
weak moment takes advantage fearlessly; thus does a mosquito follows a wicked
man.

Because
an evil-doer speaks nicely, it shouldn't be the reason for trust. There is
honey at the tip of the tongue, but poison at heart.

In three years, or three
months, or three fort-nights, or in three days, a man reaps the fruit of his
good or bad actions when reaching their extreme.

Even though I eat you it will not be adequate to fill my stomach; but if you live, I live, o! sinless one like Chitragreeva.
