SUBHASHITHANI:149
Etaani dasa paapaani haratvam mama Janhavee I
Dasa papa haraa yasmaat tasmaat dasaharaa smrutaa II
O Ganga! These ten sins may please be eliminated from me . Since the ten sins are destroyed , it is called dasahara.( dasa-ten ; hara- destroying )

Harsh words, falsehood, defamatory and illogical - these are the four sins committed by speech.
Kural-642

Since gain and loss in life on speech depend,
From careless slip in speech thyself defend.

Grabbing what is not ours,  harming others without reason, wishing for another’s wife -  these three are considered as sins committed by the body.
-Kural-178

No deeds of ill, misled by base desire,
Do they, whose souls to other joys aspire.

Desiring for other’s wealth, nurturing sinful thoughts,  exhibiting false attraction to objects and people- these three are the sins committed by the mind.

Spotless be thou in mind! This only merits virtue's name; All else, mere pomp of idle sound, no real worth can claim.

O Ganga! Who came from the feet of lord Vishnu,  Kindly destroy the above mentioned ten sins from me , who is having a holy bath in you.

( These slokas were collected  by me from a tamil monthly some twenty years back and I am happy to share them with the readers. If any  mistakes are noted in the slokas , kindly inform me , I would  gladly stand  corrected. )
