Every day there are thousand reasons to feel sad, hundred reasons to worry. Such things only bother fools; not wise men.

I salute that son of Anjana with folded hands, Who crosses the great ocean playfully, Who took away the fire like sorrow of Sita, And with that burnt the city of Lanka.

She was bashful, tormented with agony, dejected with a withered look. She appeared like the star Rohini oppressed by planet Mars.( Sita at Ashoka vatika )

Her face was filled with tears. She looked dejected and emaciated due to fasting. Always plunged in grief, she looked like one meditating in tears.
Vedanta desika

Shoko naashayate dhairyam shoko naashayate shrutam
Shoko naashayete sarvam nasti shokasamo ripuh
Grief destroys one’s courage.  It destroys one’s learning.  It destroys one’s everything.  There is no enemy greater than grief.

(  These are the words of Kausalya, who had earlier chastised Dasaratha for having banished Rama to the forest )
 Nirutsaahasya deenasya shokaparyaakulaatmanah
 Sarvaarthhaah vyavaseedanti vyasanam chaadhigachchhati
The efforts of one who is unenthusiastic, weak and immersed in sorrow cannot bring out any good and he comes to grief.
(These are words of Sugreeva to Rama , after Hanuman brought the news of having seen Sita at ashoka vatika )
Isa vaasya upanisad
Yasminsarvaani bhootaani aatmaivaabhoot vijaanatah I
Tatra ko mohah kah shokah ekatvamanupasyatah II7

When to the man of realization all beings become the very Self, then what delusion and what sorrow can there be for that seer of oneness?

One should not mourn over the past and should not remain worried about the future.
The wise operate in present.
kasya na shoko yaH syAt
    akrodhaH kim sukham tuShTiH ।
Who does not have worries? A person who does not get angry.
Who is happy? He who is contented.
|| BG 18.35
yayā svapna bhaya śhoka vihāda madam eva cha
na vimuñchati durmedh
ā dhiti sā pārtha tāmasī

That by which one from stupidity does not abandon sleep, fear, grief, despair, and also vanity , that firmness, O! Partha , is thamasic.
SRI KRISHNAYA THUBHYAM NAMAH
