Brahmanas are pleased when served with food;
peacocks are happy when they hear the thundering clouds; the wise men are happy
to see others happy; while the wicked men are pleased to see the difficulties
of others.
( * This is mostly misinterpreted as Brahmins are
fond of eating. But the real meaning is that, unlike others who are very
difficult to be pleased, Brahmins are pleased with a simple meal and offer
their blessings whole heartedly to the host )

The virtuous are neither
elated when rewarded , nor are they upset when insulted. Even if they get angry
, they will not speak harsh words. This is the hall-mark of great men.
