SUBHASHITHANI:298
।
prAmANya buddhiH stotreShu devatA buddhiH Atmani ।
Approving of praises, thinking oneself as God and treating everyone else as insects - these are the effects of newly acquired wealth (of undeserving men).
Manu smruti
na nāma grahaṇād eva tasya vāri prasīdati || 6.67 ||
At the churning of the ocean, Hari (Lord Vishnu)obtained LakShmi
and Hara (Lord Shiva)obtained poison. Hence fortune is fruitful everywhere,
neither learning nor human efforts
This tree called body , has eternal dharma as its fruit; If the body doesn’t follow dharma , it will become a waste like a barren tree.
In
this poisonous tree called materialistic world, there are only two sweet fruits
- good words of subhashita and company of the virtuous people.
bodhanvitani viralani bhavanti kintu |
Vruksha bhavanti phalapallavajalayuktah
Though there are many living beings around, the truly intelligent are very rare. There may be many trees with fruits and leaves on this earth, but the Kalpavruksha (the tree which fulfils all wishes) is very rare.
Trees bend down when they bear fruits;
Clouds hang low when they are full of water.
Gentlemen become polite when they attain wealth.
Humility is the nature of generous people (those who help others)
Shushka kaashthasch moorkhshch na namanti kadachan.
Trees laden with fruits bow with the weight of the fruits, and so also knowledgeable and learned persons with their knowledge (are always polite in their behaviour towards others). On the other hand dried wood and foolish persons never bend (are rigid and unwieldy).
।१७।।Chanakya
niti
A prostitute deserts poor customer, the subjects desert a powerless king, Birds desert a fruitless tree, and the guests leave the host after having their dinner.
Pancha tantra
yatra na syāt phalaṃ bhūri yatra casyāt parābhavaḥ |
na tatra matimān yuddhaṃ samutpādya samācaret || 250 ||
Where there is no specific gain, or in situations where they haven’t been
insulted, intelligent people do not start a fight.
River never drinks its own water. A tree does not eat its own
fruits. Clouds do not consume the crops on which they shower. Good people
always use their power to help others.
The cuckoo has no pride in the possession of a delicious mango
whereas a frog will be croaking by a gulp of muddy water.
