SAPHALAM- सफलं- SUCCESSFUL , FRUITFUL

वाणी रसवती यस्य,यस्य श्रमवती क्रिया।
लक्ष्मी : दानवती यस्य,सफलं तस्य जीवितं।।

Vaani rasavatee yasya yasya shramavatee kriyaa I

Lakshmee dhaanavatee yasya saphalam tasya jeevitam II
A man whose speech is pleasing, works very hard, and uses his wealth for charity, such a person leads a fruitful life.
जीविते यस्य जीवन्ति लोके मित्राणि बान्धवाः
सफलं जीवितं तस्य को स्वार्थाय जीवति
Jeevite yasya jeevanti loke mitraani baandhavaah I
Saphalam jeevitam tasya ko na svaarthaaya jeevati II
In this world, Only  that man, because of whom friends and relatives are able to live, has lived (in the true sense of the word). Otherwise, who in this world does not live solely to meet one's own ends?

भोक्ता तृप्यति नाभोक्ता गन्ता गच्छति नागतिः
वक्ता वक्ति चावक्ता पौरुषं सफलं नृणाम् १७ Yoga vasishta

bhoktā tpyati nābhoktā gantā gacchati nāgati |
vaktā vakti na cāvaktā paurua saphala nṛṇām || 2.7.17 ||

He that eats becomes satiate and not who starves: so he who walks is said to proceed and not one who rests: and in like manner whoso speaks is called a speaker and not the silent man: thus action makes the man.

एतया तदलं मेऽस्तु तुच्छया पूर्वचिन्तया ।
पौरुषं याति साफल्यं वर्तमानचिकित्सया॥ ५.२५.१६
Ethayaa tadalam may astu tuchchayaa purva chintayaa I
Paurusham yaati saaphalyam vartamaana chikitsayaa  IIYoga vasishta
Enough of brooding over the past which is of no use; My manly exertions ,along with analysis of present situation ,will bring success. (  Maha Bali )

 अद्य प्राप्ता तपस्सिद्धिस्तव संदर्शनान्मया।
अद्य मे सफलं तप्तं गुरवश्च सुपूजिताः।।3.74.11।। Sabari to Rama
On seeing you now my penance has attained fulfilment, my services to my preceptors have borne fruit.
कं च ते परमं कामं करोमि किमु हर्षितः || Ramayana १-१८-५२
पात्रभूतोऽसि मे ब्रह्मन् दिष्ट्या प्राप्तोऽसि मानद |
अद्य मे सफलं जन्म जीवितं च सुजीवितम् || १-१८-५३
यस्माद् विप्रेन्द्रमद्राक्षं सुप्रभाता निशा मम | ( Dasarata welcoming sage Visvaamitra )
Oh, Brahman, as I am the one who is delighted for your arrival, and as you are the most eligible recipient from me, what is that choicest object of yours to be fulfilled by me, and in which way. Oh, endower of respect, for me your arrival is fortunate whereby my birth is fructified and my life flourished today, and wherefore I could see a great Brahman like you visiting my home, therefore the sun appears to have dawned in my night. 
अनिर्वेदः श्रियो मूलमनिर्वेदः परं सुखम्।
अनिर्वेदो हि सततं सर्वार्थेषु प्रवर्तकः।।
करोति सफलं जन्तोः कर्म यत्तत्करोति सः।  Ramayana 5.12.10/11
Wise Hanuman once again declared, 'being free from despair is the root cause of prosperity. Freedom from despondency gives supreme happiness. 'The action of a living being certainly bears fruit. ( Hanuman in search of Sita )

यस्य  वाण्यास्ति  मधुरा  तस्येव  सफलं  तपः |
नोचेज्जीवन्ति  पशवोप्पनिशं  पुष्टिशालिनः  ||

Yasya vaanyaasti mad huraa tasyeva saphalam tapah I
Nochet jeevanti pashavo api anisham prushta shaalinah II
  A person who speaks with eloquence in a pleasing manner,
all the penance he undergoes while doing his duties, always brings fruitful results to him. Otherwise  animals too thrive by their instinct to remain alive.
वचस्तत्रैव वक्तव्यं यत्रोक्तं सफलं भवेत्
स्थायी भवति चात्यन्तं रङ्गः शुक्लपटे यथा ।।Pancha tantram
Vachas tatraiva vaktavyam yatroktam saphalam bhavet I
Sthayee bhavi chatyantam rangah shukla pathe yatha  II
The effect of colouring is permanent on a white cloth. Similarly ,we should speak only where it is fruitful.
मरुस्थल्यां यथा वृष्टिः क्षुधार्ते भोजनं तथा ।
दरिद्रे दीयते दानं सफलं पाण्डुनन्दन ॥१.११॥Mahabharatham
O Yudhishtira ! Rain in a parched  land , food to an hungry man, and charity to the needy, all these are highly fruitful actions.
स्वाधीन वृत्तः साफल्यं पराधीनवृत्तिता।
ये पराधीनकर्माणो जीवन्तोऽपि ते मृताः॥ Garuda puraanam
Non-dependence on others for living is praise worthy; not depending on others. One who is dependent on others even if he is alive ,is considered as good as dead ( ie his life is worthless )
முயற்சி திருவினை ஆக்கும் முயற்றின்மை
இன்மை புகுத்தி விடும்.-Thirukkural 616
Untiring effort will produce success; idleness will produce failure (lit-poverty).
