shouldn’t forget that, if the heart or soul is hollow, no amount of good looks
are going to make someone beautiful. Rather than judging people on their
physical appearance, it’s important to understand their inner beauty. Inner
beauty can be described as a combination of personality, intelligence,
integrity, elegance, and politeness .”

सिद्धिं पृच्छस्व मा विद्द्यां भोगं पृच्छस्व मा धनम् ll
Look at the virtues not the appearance. Look at the character not the lineage. Look at accomplishments not mere theoretical knowledge. Look at what one does with his wealth and not how much wealth he has .
विद्या
रूपं कुरूपाणां, निर्धनानां धनं तथा |
निर्बलानां बलं विद्या साधनीया प्रयत्नतः |
vidyA rUpam kurUpANam, nirdhanAnAm dhanam tathA
|
nirbalAnAm balam vidyA, sAdhanIyA prayatnataH ||
Knowledge is the beauty of the ugly and wealth of the poor.
It is power of the weak, and one should strive hard to gain it.
प्रत्यक्षकविकाव्यं च रूपं च कुलयोषितः ।
गृहवैद्यस्य विद्या च कस्यैचिद्यदि रोचते ॥
gRuhavaidyasya vidyA cha kasyaichid yadi rochate ॥
The following things are generally received with jealousy - Works of a contemporary poet, beauty of chaste lady and medicine of a house doctor.
कोकिलानम् स्वरो रूपं स्त्रीणां रूपं पतिव्रतम् |
विद्या रूप कुरुपाणां क्षमा रूपं तपस्विनाम् ||
A
cuckoo is recognized by its sweet voice, a woman by her fidelity towards
husband , ugly looking persons get recognition by their knowledge, and sages by
their (forgiveness) patience and rigorous self -discipline..
विद्याहीना न शोभन्ते निर्गन्धाः किंशुकाः इव ॥ ८२
VidyahIna na shobhante nirghanda kimshuka iva ||
A person with good looks and youth born in an illustrious family
Will not shine if he is illiterate just like the Kimshuka flower although beautiful is without fragrance.
गुणस्य आभरणं ज्ञानं ज्ञानस्य आभरणं क्षमा ॥
gunasyaabharanam Gyaanam, Gynaanasyaabharanam kshamaa II
Form (appearance) is an adornment to man, virtues are an adornment to the form, knowledge is an adornment to virtue, forgiveness adorns knowledge.
गुणो भूषयते रूपं शीलं भूषयते कुलम् ।
सिद्धिर्भूषयते विद्यां भोगो भूषयते धनम् ॥
Siddhir bhooshayate vidhyaam bhogo bhooshayate dhanam II
Man’s beauty is embellished by virtuous character; a clan’s reputation is enhanced by moral conduct; knowledge is improved by practice, and wealth shines by its usage.
असिद्धस्य हता विध्या अभोगेन हतं धनं IIChanakya niti
Nirgunasya hatam roopam dussheelasya hatam kulam I
Asiddhasya hataa vidhyaa abhogena hatam dhanam II
Beauty is in vain in absence of virtues, family reputation is of no value who has
no character, knowledge that does not give success is in vain, wealth that is not
used for enjoyment is in vain
कन्या वरयते रूपं माता वित्तं पिता श्रुतम् ।
