The fruits of action ( good and bad ) done in previous birth is
known as ‘daiva’
and is responsible for
one’s present life. Hence, it is important to work hard and
without let up in
this birth to gain a good future.

Yatha Dhenu Sahashtreshu Vatso Vindati Maataram
Tathaa Poorva Kratam Karma Kartaar-manugachhati
Just as a calf finds it's mother in a herd of thousands of cows ( Dhenu ),
effects of all previous deeds always follow the doer.

Tathaa Poorva Kratam Karma Kartaar-manugachhati
Just as a calf finds it's mother in a herd of thousands of cows ( Dhenu ),
effects of all previous deeds always follow the doer.
अनुद्योगेन तैलानि तिलेभ्यः नाप्तुमर्हति।।
One should not abandon his efforts, believing in the fate
(destiny). Without the efforts
it is not possible to get oil from sesamum
seeds.

Born in the lineage of Bhramaaji, Kubera the elder brother, Kumbha karna
the younger brother, Indrajit his son, himself ten headed and with
twenty hands, Had arrows which will carry out all wishes, extraordinary
pushpaka vimana , living in well protected island, all this came to naught and
Ravana was destroyed totally. . It is clear that fate (destiny) is
unconquerable.

A snake, stricken
with hunger and despair ,lay coiled in a cane casket .In the night a mouse
gnawed a hole in the casket , and on its own fell in to the mouth of the snake.
The snake gratified its hunger swallowing the mouse, and quickly crept out of
its captivity through the same hole. O! Men be patient , destiny is behind the
fortunes or misfortunes of men.

यं तु रक्षितुमिच्छन्ति बुद्ध्या संविभजन्ति तम् ॥
Parameshvara (God) does not himself pick up a staff (danda) to protect us
like
the shepherd guarding his flock. He gives intelligence (buddhi) to the
person
whose safety he wishes to assure.
यथा ह्येकेन चक्रेण न रथस्य गतिर्भवेत् ।
एवं पुरुषकारेण विना दैवं न सिद्ध्यति II
As a chariot cart cannot move with one wheel,
similarly, without hard work
destiny does not bring fruit.

Perseverance, daring, courage, wisdom, strength and valor.
Where these six are, God will also be there.

Fortune favours the persevering and lion hearted man; only mean
persons will say that success depends only on destiny. If one makes effort to
the best of one’s ability regardless of destiny and still fails , there will be
nothing to blame.

The unprotected
survives, protected by the destiny, while the well protected may perish when
ill-fated. An orphan abandoned in the forest may survive, whereas one at home,
despite of all efforts may not survive.
