AADAU-आदौ- IN THE BEGINING

 SUBHASHITHANI:487

vālī nigrahaṇaṃ samudra taraṇaṃ laṃkāpurī dāhanaṃ
paścāt rāvaṇa kuṃbhakarṇa hananaṃ etadhdi rāmāyaṇam..

Commencing with Rama’s going to the sacrificial spot, killing the golden deer, the abduction of Vaidehi, death of Jatayu, conversation with Sugriva, killing of Vaali, bridging the ocean, burning of Lanka, then the annihilation of Ravana and Kumbhakarna – this is briefly the traditional Ramayana.- (Eka sloki Ramayanam)

Association with mean and wicked persons is initially pleasurable and in the middle stage becomes unpleasant and ultimately results  in enmity .

Initially they (mean and wicked persons) are very polite,
but for fulfilling their objective they do not hesitate to become
crooked.  However, after achieving their objective they again
appear to be  polite. Such  persons are life destroying like an archer.

Excessive hunger or desire in a person results in loss of his personality, become weak and lean, destroys romantic urge, son becomes unfriendly, disturbs relationship with wife and other relatives, results in loss of pride, reduces tapas, destroys moral behaviour. This hunger is the root cause of all kinds of illness and even becomes the cause of one’s death.

आदौ चित्ते ततः काये सतां सञ्जायते जरा
असतां  पुनः काये नैव चित्ते कदाचन
In case of virtuous people, old age sets first in mind and later in body. On the other hand, the body of a wicked person keeps aging but his mind never matures.

Even before I saw the light of this world, my sins from previous births,
Through which I passed because of desire for the fruit of my deeds,
Punished me as I lay in my mother’s womb.
There I was boiled in the midst of filthy things:
Who can describe the pain that afflicts the child in its mother’s womb?
Therefore, O Siva! O Mahadeva! O Sambhu! Forgive me, I pray, for my transgressions. (Siva kshamapana stotram- Shankara )
