O Thief! Having stolen my wealth, my honour, my senses, my life and my everything, where can You run to? I have caught You with the rope of my devotion. ( This is a stuti on sri Krishna )

Pancha tantra

By compromising self respect and boldly facing dishonour  one can fulfil many a mission. Man's stupidity lies in protecting self-respect and fearing dishonour to an extreme and thereby damaging himself. If the situation demands, then one can even carry one's enemy on the back. By carrying his enemies on his back at the right time, the snake killed all the frogs.

।2.58.19।।Ramayana

'O mother, conduct yourself with other mothers without pride and egoism. Ensure that venerable Kaikeyi remains well disposed towards the king. ( Sri Rama to Kausalya )

।2.109.3।।Ramayana
A man not bound by morality, engaged in evil deeds and conducts himself contrary to good character is not respected by the virtuous. (Rama to Jabali)

A wise man should achieve his object by compromising self-respect and boldly facing dishonour; losing focus on achieving one’s objective will be foolish.

Those who are brave, handsome, fortunate, well-educated and knowledgeable should understand that no one in this wide world attains fame or honour without wealth. -Pancha tantra

With the growth of the body, the living entity, in order to vanquish his soul, increases his false prestige and anger and thereby creates enmity towards similarly lusty people.

dānena pāṇirna tu kaṅkaṇena snānena śuddhirna tu candanena
mānena tṛp‍tirna tu bhojanena jñānena muktirna tu pūjanena

Bestowal makes a hand (graceful), not bracelets; ablution purifies, not sandalwood paste; contentment comes from character, not food; absolution comes from knowledge, not worshipping.

Discarding which, one becomes loved by all?
Discarding which, one does not grieve?
One who is without vanity is loved by all.
One without anger never grieves.
