LAABHAH- लाभः- GAIN, PROFIT

 SUBHASHITHANI: 490

Anishtaat ishtalaabho api na gatir jaayate shubhaa I
Yatraaste visha samsargo amrutam tadapi mrutyave II
Obtaining a gain by wrong means will only be temporary, it will ultimately never lead to auspicious results; Just as nectar in association with  poison will only lead to death.

Ganayanti na ye sooryam vrushtim sheetam cha karshakaah I
Yatante sasya laabhaya taih saakam hi vasaamyaham II
I ( Bhagavan) stay along with those farmers who, without considering the heat, rain, or cold, strive consistently for good harvests.
Shushkopavaaso dharmeshu bhaishajyeshu cha langanam I
Japayagyascha yagyeshu rochate laabha shalinaam II
In carrying out dharmic activities- living on meagre food ; In practicing upavasana- total fasting; In yagyas – Japa yagya. Thus the greedy always chooses where there is no expenditure.
santoṣaḥ paramo lābhaḥ satsaṅgaḥ paramā gatiḥ
vicāraḥ paramaṃ jñānaṃ śamo hi paramaṃ sukham
Contentment is the highest gain; company of the wise is the best attainment.  Reflection is the paramount form of knowledge; quietude of the mind is the zenith of happiness.
SB 1.2.9
dharmasya hy āpavargyasya nārtho ‘rthāyopakalpate
nārthasya dharmaikāntasy kāmo lābhāya hi smṛtaḥ
All occupational engagements are certainly meant for ultimate liberation. They should never be performed for material gain. Furthermore, according to sages, one who is engaged in the ultimate occupational service should never use material gain to cultivate sense gratification.
yaṁ labdhvā chāparaṁ lābhaṁ manyate nādhikaṁ tataḥ
yasmin sthito na duḥkhena guruṇāpi vichālyate
Having gained that state, one does not consider any attainment to be greater. Being thus established, one is not shaken even in the midst of the greatest calamity.
sukha-duḥkhe same kṛitvā lābhālābhau jayājayau
tato yuddhāya yujyasva naivaṁ pāpam avāpsyasi
Fight for the sake of duty, treating alike happiness and distress, loss and gain, victory and defeat. Fulfilling your responsibility in this way, you will never incur sin.
