SABHA-सभा- ASSEMBLY, CONCLAVE

 SUBHASHITHANI: 478

Sabha kalpatarum vande shaakhopa shobhitam I
Shaastra pushpa samaakeernam vidvad bhramara manditam II
An assembly called kalpaka vruksha , shining through the branches called veda. I bow to it, that which is occupied eby the bees called wise men.
Vidura niti
A person with beautiful clothes conquers the house. the person who has cows conquers the desire to eat sweets; a person riding a vehicle  conquers the path and the modest person conquers the whole world.
Even a fool, dressed in fine garments, shines in an assembly;
but only as long as he doesn’t open his mouth.

To prove that the statement of His supreme devotee Prahlāda  was substantial — in other words, to prove that the Supreme Lord is present everywhere, even within the pillar of an assembly hall — the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Hari, exhibited a wonderful form never before seen. The form was neither that of a man nor that of a lion. Thus, the Lord appeared in His wonderful form in the assembly hall.

One seated in assembly, does not speak out clearly the truth, should be abandoned from a great distance and should also not be glorified  and honoured.

Raajavat putra daaraascha svamivan mitrabaandhavaah I
Aachaaryavat sabhha madhye bhagyavantam stuvanti hi II
One who is fortunate (prosperous) will have the benefit of his wife and children treating him like a king; friends and relatives treating him like a boss; and being treated like a teacher in a large assembly.

Vibudhaanaam sabhaayaam tu  kalaavaaneva raajate.
Harastaanakhilaanstyaktkaa  tameva shirasaa dadhau.
 In an assembly of wise and learned persons only those persons shine, who are experts in various arts.  Only for this reason Lord Shiva has adorned his forehead with a segment of the Moon. abandoning other embellishments.
Taastu vaachah sbhaa-yogyaa yaashchittakarshanakshamaa.
Sveshaam pareshaam  vidushaam dvishaamavidushaamapi.
Only those persons are competent to participate in an assembly of people, who, by their oratory, are capable of captivating the hearts of not only the learned persons and their associates, but also the people who are hostile towards them, as also neutral persons.

aho bat sabhaa sabhyairiyam maunaadadhah krutaa l
santo vadanti yatsatysam sabhaa na pravishanti vaa ll

Alas! Whatever eternal truth the saintly and righteous persons say for the benefit of common people, does not enter in the portals of various assemblies, and even if it reaches there, instead of acting on such advice, the honourable Councillors maintain silence over it .
