Medicine that cures improper desires, Medicine
in the minds of sages, Which makes them to meditate, Medicine for controlling
king among Rakshasas, Medicine which gives life to the three worlds, Medicine
which cures the travails of devotees, Medicine that cures fear of existence, Medicine
that can bring all glory, Is the holy medicine of Sri Krishna.

There are wise men. But they are not my well wishers. There are a lot of well wishers. But they are not wise. It is difficult in this world to find a person who is both wise and a well wisher - just like it is hard to find a medicine that also tastes good.

विद्या मित्रं प्रवासेषु भार्या मित्रं गॄहेषु च।
व्याधितस्यौषधं मित्रं धर्मो मित्रं मॄतस्य च॥
Knowledge is friend in the journey,
wife is the friend at home, drug is friend in illness and Dharma
(righteousness) is the friend after death.
The person with whom we have no relation, but who helps us in our difficult times is our Real relative/brother. In contrast the person who may be our relative/brother (With whom we have blood relations) but who always does bad things for us should not be considered as our relative/brother. Just like a disease which is in our own body does so much harm to us while the medicinal plant which grows in forest far off does so much of good to us!
परो अपि हितवान् बन्धु: ,बन्धु: अपि अहित: पर: |
अहित: देहज: व्याधि: , हितम् आरण्यम् औषधम् ||~ हितोपदेश
मनीषिणः सन्ति न ते हितैषिणो
हितैषिणः सन्ति न ते मनीषिणः ।
सुहृच्च विद्वानपि दुर्लभो नृणां
यथौषधं स्वादु हितं च दुर्लभम् ॥
हितैषिणः सन्ति न ते मनीषिणः ।
सुहृच्च विद्वानपि दुर्लभो नृणां
यथौषधं स्वादु हितं च दुर्लभम् ॥

शत्रौ सांत्वं प्रतीकारः सर्वरोगेषु भेषजम् ।
मृत्योर्मृत्युंजयध्यानं दारिद्र्ये तु न किंचन ॥
shatrau sAntvam pratIkAraH sarvarogeShu bheShajam ।
mRutyoH mRutyunjaya dhyAnam dAridrye tu na kinchana ॥
Even the enemy can be made to drop the
hatred by adept diplomacy. Every disease has a medicine. Even death can be put
away (temporarily) by chanting the Mrityunjaya mantra. But poverty has no remedy.
न चन्द्रेण न औषध्या न सूर्येण न वह्निना |
साम्नैव विलयं याति विद्वेषभवंस्तमः ||
na candrena na aushadhyaa na suuryena na vahninaa |
saamnaiva vilayam yaati vidveshabhavam tamah ||
The darkness caused by hatred can not
be overcome by moon (moonlight), nor by any medicine, nor by the sun, also not
by any fire. It can only be dealt with by pacifying patiently.
जातमात्रं न यः शत्रुं व्याधिं च प्रशमं नयेत् |
अतिपुष्टाङ्गयुक्तोऽपि स पश्चात्तेन हन्यते ||
jaatamaatram
na yah shatrum vyaadhim ca prashamam nayet |
atipushtaangayukto'pi
sa pashcaattena hanyate ||
Be it a disease or an enemy - it must
be put out when it is in budding stage. If
it is not done, even if you have the strongest body (and a strong army) you
will be annihilated by the enemy (or disease).
इदं सरीरं
परिणाम -पेसलं
पतत्य अवश्यं
साथ -संधि -जर्जरं
किं औषधं पृच्छसि मूढ
दुर्मते
निरामयं
कृष्ण -रसायनं पिब- Mukunda mala
Idam sariram parinama-pesalam Pathaty avasyam satha-sandhi-jarjaram
Kim aushadham pricchasi mudha durmate Niramayam krishna-rasayanam piba
This body which will change over time,
Would one day fall after its hundred
joints stiffen, Why are you in search of
other medicines, you fool, Only drink
deep, the elixir of Lord Krishna.
औषधार्थसुमन्त्राणां बुद्धेश्चैव महात्मनाम्
।
असाध्यं नास्ति लोकेऽत्र यद्ब्रह्माण्डस्य
मध्यगम्॥ panchatantra
aushadhaarthasumantraanaam buddhaishcaiva
mahaatmanaam |
asaadhyam naasti loke'tra yadbrahmaandasya madhyagam
||
Nothing impossible exists in this
world for these - medicine, wealth, good counsel, and intellect of the noble.
अमन्त्रमक्षरं
नास्ति नास्ति मूलमनौषधम् ।
अयोग्यः
पुरुषो नास्ति योजकस्तत्र दुर्लभः ॥

yojakastatra durlabhaḥ ॥
There is no alphabet that is not a mantra, no plant that is not medicinal |
There is no person unworthy, what is lacking is a 'facilitator' ||

यस्य कस्य तरोः मूलं येन केन अपि घर्षितम् ।
यस्मै कस्मै प्रदातव्यं यत् वा तत् वा भविष्यति ॥
The root of this or that tree - ground
with something or the other given to
someone or the other will cause either this
or that!!
