काकोलूकवैरकथा-
The story of the enmity between the crows and the owls
The crow king Megavarna asked Stirajeevin as to how the enmity between the crows and owls started. The story briefly is as follows:
Once there was a congregation of all birds to discuss various problems. During this meeting some of the birds mentioned that  their king Garuda is too devoted to Sri Vishnu and is not taking care of their welfare and hence they should look for another king. The birds were about to decide on owl as their king when a crow intervened and said that a bird which is blind during day and active during night hardly is suited to be their king. .....

Among men the barber is cunning; among birds the crow; among beasts
the jackal; and among mendicants Svetambara sect.

Plans thought out by experts and discussed with many and from various points of view seldom fails under any circumstances.

One who, looks so unpleasant and formidable with his crooked nose and squint- eyes, when he is not angry, what will it be when he is angry?

By nature, very frightful, very fierce, cruel and always unfriendly in speech; what shall we gain by making such an owl as our king?

एक एव हितार्थाय तेजस्वी पार्थिवो भुवः

One mighty king is a blessing to the whole world; if there are too many kings it will result in destruction like too many suns destroy the whole world at the end of an yuga.

गुरूणां नाम-मात्रेऽपि गृहीते स्वामि-सम्भवे

Good results follow after mere mention of the name of a great master before the wicked men.
