FORBEARANCE- (क्षमा - KSHAMAA)

SUBHASHITHAM : 064
Kshma Bal Ashaktaanam Shaktaanam Bhooshanam Kshma I    kshma Vasheekratirlokey Kshmayaa Kim Na Sidhyati. II
'Forbearance' is the strength of the weak; 'forbearance' is the adornment of the strong. The world is subdued by 'forbearance'. What can't be accomplished with 'forgiveness'?
Kshmaa Shashtram Kare Yasya Durjanahh kim Karishyati I Atrino Patito Vahnihh Swayamewop Shantaye. II
If a person possesses’ forgiveness’ as a virtue what harm can an evil person do to him, just as a fire gets automatically extinguished if it falls on a non-combustible surface.
narasyaabharanam rupam, rupasyabharanam guna: I gunasyaabharanam Gyaanam, Gynaanasyaabharanam kshamaa  II
Form (appearance) is an adornment to man,  virtues are an adornment to the form, knowledge is an adornment to virtue, forgiveness adorns knowledge.
I        Kshamaam vinaa sarva gunaa: nirarthaa: I
All other qualities pale in to insignificance before forbearance.
Valmiki Ramayana
The son of Kausalya is endowed with all great qualities. He is magnificent like ocean. He is firm like Himalayas. In the show of anger he resembles the destructive fire at the end of creation. He is equal to mother Earth in forbearance.
Kural-151
To bear with those who revile us, just as the earth bears up those who dig it, is the first of virtues.
Resolve, forgiveness, controlled mind, never stealing, cleanliness, control over senses, intellect, education, honesty and never getting angry are the ten facets of Dharma (the code of righteous living).
