जलबिन्दुनिपातेन क्रमशः पूर्यते घटः |
स हेतुः सर्वविद्यानां धर्मस्य च
धनस्य
च || - चाणक्य नीति
Jalabindunipaatena kramashah
pooryate ghatah. I Sahetuh sarvavidyaanaam dharm asya cha dhanasya cha.I
Just as small drops of water falling inside an
earthen pitcher gradually fill it up to the brim, in the same manner various disciplines of learning, Religious
austerity and wealth are also acquired
gradually.
क्षणशः कणशश्चैव
विद्यामर्थं
च
साधयेत्
।
क्षणत्यागे कुतो
विद्या
कणत्यागे
कुतो
धनम्
॥
kṣaṇaśaḥ kaṇaśaścaiva
vidyāmarthaṃ ca sādhayet । kṣaṇatyāge kuto
vidyā kaṇatyāge kuto dhanam ॥
Knowledge and wealth are procured with every moment and
grain (respectively). (If) a moment is wasted, how can knowledge (be accrued);
(if a) grain is wasted, how can wealth (be accumulated)?
आचार्यात् पादमादत्ते
पादं
शिष्यः
स्वमेधया
।
पादं सब्रह्मचारिभ्यः
पादं
कालेन
पच्यते
॥ - महाभारत, उद्योगपर्व
ācāryāt
pādamādatte pādaṃ śiṣyaḥ svamedhayā ।
pādaṃ sabrahmacāribhyaḥ pādaṃ kālena pacyate ॥
A (student
acquires a) quarter from the teacher, a quarter from his own intelligence, a
quarter from classmates, a quarter ripens over time.पात्रत्वात् धनमाप्नोति, धनात् धर्मं ततः सुखम्॥
True knowledge nurtures good discipline, from
discipline comes worthiness, from worthiness one gets wealth, from wealth (one
does) good deeds, from that (comes) joy.
अलसस्य कुतो
विद्या
अविद्यस्य
कुतो
धनम्
।
अधनस्य कुतो
मित्रममित्रस्य
कुतः
सुखम्
॥
How can
there be knowledge without effort ?, Without knowledge how can there be
wealth?, Without money how will there be friends?, Without friends how will
there be happiness?
तद्विद्धि प्रणिपातेन
परिप्रश्नेन
सेवया
|
उपदेक्ष्यन्ति ते
ज्ञानं
ज्ञानिनस्तत्त्वदर्शिन:
|| 34||
upadekṣhyanti te jñānaṁ jñāninas tattva-darśhinaḥ
BG 4.34:
Learn the Truth by approaching a spiritual master. Inquire from him with
reverence and render service unto him. Such an enlightened guru can impart
knowledge unto you because he has seen the Truth.
