THREE GATES TO HELL-त्रिविधं नरकस्येदं द्वारं

SUBHASHITHAM: 075

परनिन्दासु पाण्डित्यं स्वेषु कार्येष्वनुध्य्म: I

प्रद्वेषस्च गुणज्ञेषु पन्थानो ह्यापदां त्रय: II

Paranindaasu paandityam sveshu kaaryeshvanudyama: I Pradveshascha gungyeshu pantaano hyaapadam thrya: II

Showing wisdom in blaming others, laziness in doing one’s own work, and envy for those who respect virtue are the three roads leading to down fall.

सन्तोषस्त्रिषु कर्तव्य: स्वदारे भोजने धने ।

त्रिषु चैव न कर्तव्योऽध्ययने  तपदानयो : ।। CHANAKYA NITI

Santoshas threeshu kartavya: svadaare bhojane dhane I Threeshu chaiva na kartavyo adhyayana tapa daanayo: II

Mental fulfilment should be reached quickly in the case of these three: 1.wife,children,relatives,  2.enjoyment and 3. Wealth .  But, there should never be satisfaction that I have had enough with regard to the three: 1.education and spiritual practices,2.austerities, and 3.charity to the needy.

दानं भोगो नाशस्तिस्रोगतयो भवन्ति वित्तस्य ।

यो न ददाति न भुङ्क्ते तस्य तृतीया गतिर्भवति ॥

Daanam bhogo naashastisrogatayo bhavanti vittasya

Yo na dadaati na bhungkte tasya triteeyaa gatirbhavati.

Donation,enjoyment,loss are three states for wealth. For those who don’t donate,neither use themselves, their wealth attracts the third state.

When lust and wrath and error's triple tyranny is o'er,

Their very names for aye extinct, then pain shall be no more.

त्रिविधं नरकस्येदं द्वारं नाशनमात्मन: |

काम: क्रोधस्तथा लोभस्तस्मादेतत्त्रयं त्यजेत् || 21||

tri-vidhaṁ narakasyedaṁ dvāraṁ nāśhanam ātmanaḥ I

kāmaḥ krodhas tathā lobhas tasmād etat trayaṁ tyajet II

BG 16.21: There are   three gates leading to the hell of self-destruction for the soul—lust, anger, and greed. Therefore, all should abandon these.

दूरस्था: पर्वता: रम्या वेश्या च मुखमण्डने I

युद्धस्य वार्ता रम्या च त्रीणि रम्याणि दूरत: II

Doorastaa: parvataa: ramyaa veshyaa cha mukha mandane I Yuddhasya vaartaa ramyaa cha threeni ramyaani doorata: II

Mountains look beautiful from a distance.  An actress looks beautiful after she had her make-up . The tales of war are pleasing to hear. These three are good only from a distance.
