Leave it! Leave it! said the first sage and don't leave it said the second; their dhothies normally drying up in the sky fell to the ground. Seeing this the third sage maintained silence. That is why it is said that a sage should not involve in other activities and focus only on the self. ( The kite told the story of three brothers to the sage Salankayana ).

The sage replied:

In the satya yuga one will inherit the sin merely by talking to the wicked; but in Kaliyuga Only by  committing sins one becomes a sinner not by just talking to one.

āsanāc chayanād yānāt saṃgateś cāpi bhojanāt |
kṛte sañcarate pāpaṃ taila-bindur ivāmbhasi || 3.207 ||
In Kruta yuga sin spreads like drop of oil in water by sitting, sleeping, travelling in vehicle together and eating with sinners.

जनिता चोपनेता यस् तु विद्यां प्रयच्छति

bāndhavāḥ kulam icchanti miṣṭānnam itare janāḥ || 3.210 ||
Bride chooses - appearance; mother - possessions; father - reputation; relatives look for (good) lineage; other people - a fancy feast!

यावन् लज्जते कन्या यावत् क्रीडति पांसुना

yāvan na lajjate kanyā yāvat krīḍati pāṃsunā |
yāvat tiṣṭhati go-mārge tāvat kanyāṃ vivāhayet || 3.211 ||

A girl should be given in marriage, while she has not yet developed shyness, while she is still playing in the dust and follows in the path of a cow. ( गो-मार्गे- go marge- may have a different interpretation)

माता चैव पिता चैव ज्येष्ठ-भ्राता तथैव
त्रयस् ते नरकं यान्ति दृष्ट्वा कन्यां रजस्वलाम् २१२

etān guṇān saptān sapta parīkṣya

deyā kanyā budhaiḥ śeṣam acintanīyam || 3.213 ||

Before giving a girl in marriage these seven factors should be satisfied for compatibility- Family, character, previous connections, education, property, physique and age. Other things need no consideration.
