MORAL CONDUCT-DHARMAH-2 (धर्म:)

SUBHASHITHAM:112
। Ramayanam
Dharmaat arthah prabhavati, dharmaat prabhavate sukham I
Dharmena labhate sarvam dharma saaramidam jagat II
Dharma bestows wealth as well as happiness. In fact, everything can be acquired through Dharma. This entire universe sustains itself on the foundation of Dharma.
Shruyataam dharma sarvasvam shrutvaa chaivaavadhaaryataam IAatmanah pratikoolaani paresham na samaacharet  II Listen to the jist of the Code of Life. Once listened, never forget it. Never impose anything on others that you would not like to go through.

Paraloke dhanam dharmah sheelam sarvatra vai dhanam II
In a foreign land, you can use your education to get around. In tough times your intellect will be of help. When we cross over to other world, Dharma followed here will help (in deciding whether we go to hell or heaven). Virtue (good conduct) will be of help every where.

Trailokye deepako dharmah suputrah kula deepakah II
The moon brightens the night. In the day we have the sun. Dharma (the ideal code of conduct) is the source of enlightenment in all three worlds. A good son brings glory to the entire family.

Shanti tulyam tapo naasti, toshaanna paramam sukham I
There is no better penance than to attain inner peace. There is no better satisfaction when you attain (inner peace). There is no disease than greed and no "Dharma" than to forgive and be merciful. Dharma is the moral code of life.
vidyā mitra pravāseu bhāryā mitra gheu ca|
rugasya cauadha mitra dharmo mitra mtasya ca||
"Knowledge is the friend in a foregin land; wife is the [advising and consulting] friend at home. A medicine is the friend of the sick; Dharma is the friend of the dead [after death]."

shrutvaa dharmamvijaanaati shrutvaa tyajati durmatim
shrutvaa j~naanamavaapnoti shrutvaa mokShamavaapnuyaat
By taking heed to dharma, one understands; by hearing dharma, one quits his bad disposition; by comprehending dharma, one attains knowledge (awareness); by listening to dharma, one attain salvation too. - chaaNakya nIti
One must not act improperly even at the cost of life. And performing  duty must never be jettisoned . This is the eternal code of right conduct.
